What We Do

Founder and president

Siddharth Ashvin Shah, MD, MPH

Dr. Siddharth Ashvin Shah is a physician and public-health scientist trained in preventive medicine, stress physiology, and trauma-responsive practice.

His work focuses on how overwhelming stress affects bodies, brains, decisions, and systems — particularly in roles where people are responsible for the safety, wellbeing, and dignity of others.

Before starting medical school, Siddharth spent time in India observing helpers, healers, and protectors working at the crossroads of trauma and overwhelming stress. What stood out was not only the inward toll of committed work, but the outward consequences — how stress shaped mental states, behavior, and physical health in the communities being served. These observations clarified that stress is not simply an individual coping problem; it moves through people, teams, and systems, shaping outcomes on both sides of the relationship.

This understanding was reinforced through clinical and public-health work following large-scale trauma, including the response to the 9/11 attacks, inter-group violence, and Indian Ocean tsunami. These experiences highlighted the limits of individual resilience and the risks that emerge when overwhelming stress is not addressed at the systems level.

Siddharth earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a postgraduate year training in trauma recovery and psychotherapy at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry, followed by a residency in Preventive and Behavioral Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he also earned a Master of Public Health.

This combined clinical, public-health, and field-based experience informed the development of Wellbeing Operationalized℠ — an approach that treats wellbeing as a functional requirement for ethical decision-making, effective leadership, and harm prevention under conditions of overwhelming stress.
